Modeling Chronic Pain Experiences from Online Reports Using the Reddit Reports of Chronic Pain Dataset

Objective: Reveal and quantify qualities of reported experiences chronic pain on social media, from multiple pathological backgrounds, by means the novel Reddit Reports Chronic Pain (RRCP) dataset, using Natural Language Processing techniques. Materials Methods: Define validate RRCP dataset for a set subreddits related to pain. Identify main concerns discussed in each subreddit. Model subreddit according their concerns. Compare models. Results: The comprises 86,537 submissions 12 (each one background). Each has various Some these are shared between (e.g., Sciatica semantically entails backpain concerns, but not other way around), whilst some exclusive specific Interstitialcystitis CrohnsDisease). Discussion: These results suggest that experience pain, pathologies (i.e., subreddits), relevant all, certain pathologies. Our analysis details similarity relations. Conclusion: Although limited intrinsic platform, best our knowledge, this is first research work attempting model linguistic expression pain-inducing comparing models identify similarities differences corresponding emergent experiences.
